What To Do Around Scarsdale This Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The beginning of the school recess, a Nativity presentation and a discovery hike at the Weinberg Nature Center highlight some of the events happening around Scarsdale this holiday weekend.

Friday, Dec. 21

Half-Day For Schools: Scarsdale schools will close at noon, and classes will resume Jan. 2.

Mother Goose For Tots: 9:30 a.m. This program of songs,  rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Community Yoga: 7:30 p.m. This mixed-level class will be taught by recent teacher-trainee graduates. Yoga Haven, 91 Montgomery Ave., Scarsdale.

Nativity Presentation: 7:30 p.m. A living Nativity scene to celebrate the holidays will be held at Eastchester Community Church. A real stable with live animals will be featured. 11 Woodlot Road, Eastchester.

Music At The Park: 9:30 p.m. Park 143 Bistro will showcase guest artist John James playing rock and soul. Guests will receive a free Park Bellini. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.

Saturday, Dec. 22

Babies And Bagels: 9:15 a.m. This informal, drop-in play group is for babies and toddlers with their moms, dads, caregivers and grandparents. All are welcome. No fee. Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Children’s Art Class: 9:45 a.m. Children ages 3-5 can gain confidence in self-expression through painting, sculpting, drawing, collage, dramatic play and more at Gymboree. 450 Central Park Ave., Scarsdale.

Community Christmas Party: Noon. The Nepperhan Community Center’s community Christmas party will have toys for children, food and entertainment. 342 Warburton Ave., Yonkers.

Discovery Hike: 12:15 p.m. A brief outdoor walk will be held at the Weinberg Nature Center, where children and adults can look at the wonders of the natural world. $2. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Sunday, Dec. 23

Nativity Presentation: 10:30 p.m. A living Nativity scene to celebrate the holidays will be held at Eastchester Community Church. A real stable with live animals will be featured. 11 Woodlot Road, Eastchester.

Coffee Hour: 11:30 a.m. Scarsdale Congregational Church hosts a coffee hour every Sunday immediately following services. It is a chance to catch up with friends and neighbors, and meet new ones. All ages are welcome. 1 Heathcote Road, Scarsdale.
