What To Do Around Scarsdale This Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Several children’s programs, the beginning of a weight loss program and Children’s Day at the Scarsdale Congregational Church are among the events planned around the village this weekend.

Friday, Jan. 4

Mother Goose for Tots: 9:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Weight Loss Crusade: 6 p.m. The Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary is offering a 180-day weight loss program: 90 days to lose weight and 90 days to learn how to keep it off. 14 Studio Arc, Bronxville.

Coffeehouse Concert: 8 p.m. Residents are invited to the Bronxville Women’s Club for a concert complete with treats. Bronxville’s Peter North will perform acoustic swing music with Joyce Balint. $5. 135 Midland Ave., Bronxville.

Music at the Park: 9:30 p.m. Park 143 Bistro will showcase guest artist John James playing rock and soul. Guests will receive a free Park Bellini. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Babies and Bagels: 9:15 a.m. This informal, drop-in playgroup is for babies and toddlers with their moms, dads, caregivers and grandparents. All are welcome. No fee. Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Children’s Art Class: 9:45 a.m. Children ages 3-5 can gain confidence in self-expression through painting, sculpturing, drawing, collage, dramatic play and more at Gymboree. 450 Central Park Ave., Scarsdale.

Parachute Playtime: 10:30 a.m. Children with caregivers share interactive play that promotes physical and social development as well as increased coordination and teamwork. Register online. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Animal Adventures: 11 a.m. Visit the Weinberg Nature Center for an hourlong adventure in which children can meet furry, feathery, scaly, slimy and cuddly animals. $3. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Wag Your Tale, Too!: 3 to 4 p.m. Share a book with a story-loving dog or just cuddle with one. Geared to special-needs children, but all are welcome. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Coffee Hour: 11:30 a.m. Scarsdale Congregational Church hosts a coffee hour every Sunday immediately following services. It is a chance to catch up with friends and neighbors, and meet new ones. All ages are welcome. The first Sunday of the month is children’s day. 1 Heathcote Road, Scarsdale.

Archaeological Lecture: 2 p.m. The Archaeological Society of America will present a lecture on Libyan and Egyptian archaeology at the Scarsdale Library. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.
