What's Happening Around Scarsdale This Week

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale residents will be busy this week, with a full slate of events scheduled around the village. There are two public meetings Monday, and the JCC of Mid-Westchester is screening a film Thursday. See our Events Page for a complete list of local and county events.

Monday, Sept. 24

Book Club: 6:30 p.m. Participants will read and discuss “Help, I’m in Love with a Narcissist,” by Steve Carter and Julie Sokol. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale. 

SARG Fitness Women’s Boot Camp: 8 p.m. This class delivers one hour of high-intensity fun and motivating exercise to help women get in and stay in shape. Participants perform cardio and strength training in a team environment. Cost is $18. 480 New Rochelle Road, Bronxville.

Board of Education meeting: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Education will have its biweekly meeting. High School, 1057 White Plains Road, Scarsdale. 

Board of Trustees meeting: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Trustees will have a meeting. Village Hall, 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Tuesday, Sept. 25

Language classes for adults: Various times. Learn to speak Italian. From 9:45 to 11:15 a.m., instructor Leslie Poole Petit will concentrate on active communication in Italian. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., classes will focus on increasing vocabulary and language comprehension. From 1:15 to 2:45 p.m., students will learn everyday communication skills. Cost is $375 for 10 classes. Westchester Italian Cultural Center, 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

Yom Kippur: Schools are closed as is the Scarsdale Public Library.

Thursday, Sept. 27

Israeli film series: 10:30 a.m. The New Connections Israeli Film Series will screen “Walk on Water,” moderated by Doron Kathein. Cost is $11. JCC of Mid-Westchester, 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale. 

Mother Goose Walkers: 10:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale. 

“Mommy and Me” Italian class: 10:30 a.m. Teachers will engage children by immersing them in the Italian language through age appropriate activities. Designed for children ages 1 through 3. Cost is $200. Westchester Italian Cultural Center, 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Benefit for Robert Astorino: 6:30 p.m. Program Reach will host its annual cocktail dinner to honor Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino. Cost is $200 per person or $375 per couple. 1 Wasylenko Lane, Yonkers.

Wine classes: 7 p.m. Stew Leonard’s Wines of Yonkers is offering the first of four classes to educate oenophiles. This class will serve as an introduction to students. Cost is $25. 1 Stew Leonard Drive, Yonkers.
