Yoga, Crafts Highlight Events At The Scarsdale Library In May

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Public Library has announced several upcoming events for the month of May.

A book club for fifth- and sixth-graders will meet on May 18 at 7 p.m., where they will discuss "Loser," by Jerry Spinelli. Book will be available in the children's room after participants register on the website.

Free appraisals of "hidden treasures" will be provided on May 16, beginning at 1 p.m. with Helaine Fendelman, a nationally recognized authority on the arts, antiques and collectibles. There will be a limit of two items per individual. 

My Yogi and Me, a program of movement and games of modified hatha yoga designed for walkers up to age five and their caregivers, will be on May 11 at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required at the library's website.

At 4 p.m. on May 11, it will be Make It Monday, an advanced crafts program for ages seven and up. Registration is required at the library website. 

Robert the Guitar Guy brings his special brand of music to the library on Tuesday, May 12, at 10 a.m. Robert and his repertoire of more than 75 songs entertains young children up to age five as he conveys his delight in musical expression. 

May 12 also offers the first of two Big Truck Days, at 4 p.m., featuring Scarsdale Highway Department equipment. 

The weekly Mother Goose for Walkers up to age two will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Attendees must have a ticket which are distributed on a first come, first served basis to Scarsdale cardholders in the Children’s Room, half an hour before the start of each session. Children are limited to attend one session of Mother Goose per 

Mother Goose for Pre-Walkers, a program of rhymes, songs and stories for infants who are not yet walking, will be held Friday, May 15, at 9 a.m. Reservations are not required. 

Yoga-a-Go-Go, a program for children with special needs, will be held on Sunday, May 17, at 1 p.m. Traditional yoga poses and practices have been modified into a playful, non-judgmental format for fun and relaxation. Wheelchairs can be accommodated.
