"Eyewitness," which recreated the village of Tivoli while filming on location in Canada, will not return for a second season, according to deadline.com, which sites a source at the USA Network.

Produced as a "companion" to the wildly popular crime drama "Law & Order: SVU, " "Eyewitness" was never heavily promoted and never gained the loyal audience of the older show, according to deadline.com.

The 10-episode drama began when a pair of teenage boys (played by actors James Paxton and Tyler Young) witness a triple homicide while secretly meeting in a cabin.

Paxton, the son of the late actor Bill Paxton, and Young were cast as Red Hook High School students on "Eyewitness."

Things got even more complicated because the mother of one of the boys, played by actress Julianne Nicholson, was also the town's sheriff.
