It was all part of our first year of DVlicious contests where readers submitted their top choice contenders. Those were then whittled down to five finalists who were profiled with features before voting ended. Along the way there was lots of good-natured rivalry as many eateries took to Facebook encouraging their customers to cast their ballot and declare them the winner.
Here's who made it into Westchester's DVlicious Hall of Fame in 2015:
Pizza: Johnny's in Mount Vernon was "the big cheese," so to speak, with 50 percent of the vote. Broadway Pizza in North White Plains and Frank Pepe Pizzeria in Yonkers scored second and third with 18 percent and 17 percent respectively. The eatery is located at 30 W. Lincoln Ave., (914) 668-1957.
Ice Cream: Talk about the cold facts. Our ice cream contest ended in a historic tie between Valhalla's Village Creamery (32 Broadway) and King Kone in Somers (Rte 35 and 100) as they each grabbed 40 percent of the vote.
