Join A Children's Book Club At Scarsdale Library

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Book clubs for children in the second- through sixth-grades will be held in the coming weeks at the Scarsdale Public Library.

The book clubs will meet on the following dates:

  • Second-grade book club meets, Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 4:15 p.m., to talk about “Squish” by Jennifer and Matthew Holm, part of the graphic novel series about a comic book-loving, Twinkie-eating grade-school amoeba trying to find his place in the world.
  • Third-graders,  meet Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 4:15 p.m. to discuss “Liar, Liar Pants on Fire” by Gordon Korman, the story of Zoe, who makes up wild stories, and when something exciting really does happen no one believes her.
  • Fourth-grade book club, Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m., to discuss “The Homework Machine” by Dan Gutman, a story about four fifth-graders who have a machine to do their homework and now are attracting too much attention as their machine might get out of control.
  • On Monday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., the fifth- and sixth-grade club will discuss “The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop” by Kate Saunders, the story of a family with 11-year-old twins who inherited a magical house in London that once housed famous chocolate makers and the family’s adventures to protect the famous recipe with magical powers.

The books to be discussed will be available in the children’s room after participants register by clicking here. Participants are expected to read the book before the session.
