In one, published in the Journal Of Women's Health, it says women who’ve read the book are more likely to have abusive partners.

In another, from Michigan State University, it says women who’ve read "Fifty Shades of Grey" are more likely to have poor health habits, eating disorders, binge drinking, and so on.

What's a gal to think? According to Jennie J. Kramer, psychotherapist and director of Metro Behavioral Health Associates Eating Disorder Centers in Scarsdale, it's a difficult link to say being attracted to or participating in bondage practices or being attracted to abuse causes disordered eating.

However, she says it makes sense that if someone has body issues, if someone needs an additional way to cope with uncomfortable feelings and they choose their body to express that –- by restricting, purging or bingeing -– it's quite likely the abuse was a precursor.

"Not all people who have disordered eating or body issues have been abused but the lion’s share have been … so it makes sense that there is a link," she adds.
