Scarsdale Library Launches Community Reading Program

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Library has launched a communitywide reading initiative, with the book "Lives in Ruins: Archaeologists and the Seductive Lure of Human Rubble" by Marilyn Johnson selected as the first to bring help bring residents together.

Johnson will do a reading from her book at the library, followed by a wine and cheese reception and book signing on Monday, March 9. Many copies of "Lives in Ruins" are available through the library in ebook, hardcover and audiobook versions. 

The program will culminate in an author visit or special event to accompany each reading selection. Book groups are encouraged to participate.

Scarsdale Reads is a communitywide reading initiative designed to bring Scarsdalians together around a shared reading experience. Each season, Scarsdale Reads will be chosen by a committee of community members and will be made readily available for residents to read alongside their neighbors and friends. 

Visit the display table in the lobby to pick up a copy. 

Discussion questions for book groups and individuals are also available at the Scarsdale Reads display table in the library.
