Scarsdale's Hoff-Barthelson Music School Features Weeklong Festival

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Hoff-Barthelson Music School’s weeklong festival, featuring the music of the classical and Romantic periods, will be held Saturday, March 5, through Saturday, March 12.

Performances of Mendelssohn’s "The Hebrides" overture under the direction of Jun Nakabayashi with the festival orchestra and other ensembles will take place at the Community Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 468 Rosedale Ave., White Plains, on Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 6, at 7 p.m. A special all-Beethoven program featuring the school’s cello faculty will be held Wednesday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. 

Performances occurring during the festival will include student solo recitals, chamber ensembles, the festival orchestra, symphonette, chamber orchestra, wind ensemble, flute clubs, beginner and junior voices, chamber choir and suzuki strings.

The beginner and junior voices, chamber choir, flute clubs and wind ensemble will also perform at the March 5 concert. The Suzuki strings, symphonette and chamber orchestra will share the March 6 concert with the festival orchestra. Admission is a suggested donation of $15. 

Student recitals and chamber ensemble performances will be held throughout the week at the music school at 25 School Lane in Scarsdale. Performances at Hoff-Barthelson Music School will include student soloists and ensembles on the following dates:

  • Saturday, March 5, at 2 and 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 10, at 6:15 and 8 p.m. 
  • Friday, March 11, at 6:15 and 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 12, at 2, 4 and 7:30 p.m. 
These recitals are free and open to the public.
