Greenburgh Nature Center Volunteer Receiving Youth Leader Award

SCARSDALE, N.Y. --Zach Lewis, a volunteer, at the Greenburgh Nature Center in Scarsdale is being honored May 4 with the Youth Leader Award at the 36th Annual Volunteer Spirit Awards.

Lewis is a 10th grade student at Soundview Prep in Yorktown. Lewis has volunteered at the center for more than two years, logging over 800 hours of service.

He is being recognized for his drive, compassion and leadership, said a release.

“Zach has learned all aspects of animal care, and been innovative in improving their habitats and enrichment as well as being one of the best teachers for the public; he has additionally been a bastion of support for special events and on the grounds in all seasons, chipping ice and mulching and shoveling compost - anything that is needed,” said, Kerrilee Hunter, Greenburgh Nature Center Supervisor of Education and Volunteers. 

The breakfast benefit will take place May 4 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Westchester Marriott Hotel, Tarrytown.

All are invited to attend.
