Though the church did not disclose the severity of the financial burden, it did tell The Daily Voice that it cost about $1,000 a day to operate the building and parish in December 2012. It closed its doors on May 26 after serving the community for 123 years.

The church began to struggle to generate income from the congregation after the economic crash of 2008.

The original plan was to sell property immediately after closing, however, sentiment is be shifting as the diocese searches "how to best use these resources for continuing participation in God’s Mission."

The meeting will be attended by community leaders, other faith communities and both government and nonprofit leaders.

Those that wish to attend are asked to RSVP online here
