Aside from the various amenities the Ambassador of Scarsdale will offer – from signature restaurants to libraries and performing arts studios – the upscale assisted living facility, which is set to open its doors to elderly residents as soon as January, will also be devoted to helping seniors suffering from memory loss as they get older.
Those who call the Memory Care Wing their home will be served upscale cuisine in a communal dining room to stimulate and heighten the senses, which can help with memory loss. There is also a wheelchair accessible “wandering garden” that provides access to nature and the outdoors.
According to a statement from officials at the Ambassador of Scarsdale, the “Memory Care Wing will feature a homelike environment that maximizes normal living environments and routines that provide a level of autonomy, community and quality of life. The features help reduce the potential for agitation, which often comes with the aging process.”
When completed, the Ambassador of Scarsdale will feature 115 residences of various designs. Spaces will range from studio to two-bedroom apartments. In all, 95 of the units are set for assisted living, while the Memory Care Wing will account for the final 20.
Recently, Perkins Eastman, a renowned Fairfield County firm was tabbed as the architecture firm to design the assisted living facility, which will be at 25 Saxon Woods Road. Stuart Lachs has been named the principal architect on the project.
