Nicholas De Martino, 45, Scarsdale Electrician

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Nicholas H. De Martino, Jr., 45, of Scarsdale died suddenly on April 6. 

An electrical worker, De Martino was volunteer firefighter for Scarsdale. 

The only child of Nicholas and Susan Hanley De Martino, he was born July 8, 1966. De Martino grew up in Scarsdale and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School, where he served as an altar boy in the parish. He graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1985. 

De Martino was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3. He participated in the Local 3 Sword of Light and Catholic Council of New York pipe and drum bands. Additionally, he was a part-time emergency medical technician. 

Prior to his knee injuries, De Martino was an avid skier. He was a devoted Grateful Dead fan and traveled all over the country to attend their concerts. He loved music and movies and had a passion for cooking. 

De Martino was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Marjorie Hanley, and Henry and Theresa De Martino. He is survived by his parents, godmother, Gail Marie Stewart, an aunt, uncle and many cousins.  

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Fred H. McGrath and Son Funeral Home in Bronxville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scarsdale. Final prayer service will continue at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in Bronx, N.Y.
