Scarsdale Celebrates 30 Years As Tree City USA Designee

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale will celebrate its designation as a Tree City USA for a 30th consecutive year at its annual Arbor Day ceremony April 26.

Tree City USA is a national program of the Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. There are 3,400 Tree City USA communities. To achieve the Tree City USA designation municipalities must meet four core standards:

  • Maintain a tree board or department
  • Have a community tree ordinance
  • Spend at least $2 per capita on urban forestry
  • Celebrate Arbor Day

Scarsdale will celebrate Arbor Day at 1:30 April 26 at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool Complex on Mamaroneck Road.

Last year two young Thornless Honeylocust trees were planted at Village Hall for Arbor Day.
