Schwartz, a vascular surgeon with offices in Rye, won the award given to a 'a doctor demonstrating the highest level of clinical quality with compassion and selfless devotion to patient care,' according to Dr. Jenifer Johnson, chair of the award nominating committee.
The award is named after the late Dr. Leonard Finkelstein, a founding member of what was then known as The Westchester Medical Group, who practiced internal medicine in Westchester County for more than 35 years.
Schwartz, WESTMED's associate medical director for surgical specialties, earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and has served as both resident and chief resident in surgery at Montefiore Medical Center.
He also completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at the University of Southern California.
Schwartz has been with WESTMED since 2007, and has been in practice since 1982.
