SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Anti-poverty foundation executive Mark Bezos of Scarsdale will receive a community service award from the Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service.
The Open Door Award for Community Service will be presented to Bezos at the annual Gourmet Galaxy fundraiser, which will take place in May 1 at the Westchester Country Club in Rye.
Bezos is the senior vice president in charge of communications and events at the Robin Hood Foundation, New York’s largest private poverty-fighting charity. He has created some of the most successful fundraisers in the organization’s history, including a charity gala that raised $88 million in one night and the recent 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief.
Outside of his work with the Robin Hood Foundation, Bezos is the captain of Scarsdale Fire Company 2. He praises Scarsdale for its charitable spirit.
“It speaks volumes about what an engaged, safe and supportive town Scarsdale is,” he said. “Having relocated a lot in my youth, I’ve been moved by seeing families put down roots in such a great community.”
