Scarsdale Library Offers More Events In May

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Library has announced its event through the end of May.

The second in the three-part series on Yoga and its benefits will be held at the Scarsdale Public Library on Thursday, May 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Dr. Illana Rosenberg, a practicing psychologist in Scarsdale, will conduct her second program on using Mindfulness to deal with life’s daily challenges at the Scarsdale Public Library on Wednesday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m. 

Big Truck Day, with vehicles from the village’s Highway Department, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, at 4 p.m. It was originally scheduled for May 12. 

Chi-Chi Bestmann brings her viola and violin for another performance of Petite Concerts on Wednesday, May 20, at 10 a.m., for pre-school children. 

On Thursday, May 21, the weekly Mother Goose for Walkers Up to Age Two will be held at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Mother Goose for Walkers is limited to the first 20 appropriately aged children. Attendees must have a ticket which are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to Scarsdale cardholders in the Children’s Room half an hour before the start of each session. Children are limited to attend one session of Mother Goose per week.  

On Friday, May 22, at 9:30 a.m., it will be Baby Free Play for pre-walkers up to age two. Parachute Playtime will be held, on Saturday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. 

The Scarsdale Library Writers Center will present its Second Annual Festival of Writing on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, at the Scarsdale Public Library. The free programs will start at 1 p.m. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. Members of the Writers Center will read selections from their work; included will be fiction, memoirs, essays, and poetry. 

The writers who will be reading are part of the Writers Center’s three critique groups led by Jimin Han and Barbara Josselsohn that meet at the library every other week. The sessions have ended for the summer and will start again in the fall. Registration information will be available in August.
