SCARSDALE, N.Y. - Alex Rosado, 9, sat in a foldout chair wearing a glow stick around his neck, holding a small American flag, and sporting an Uncle Sam top hat on his head while waiting in anticipation for the night's sky to light up with fireworks at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool Friday.
"I am very excited because there are going to be fireworks, it is July and it is time to celebrate Uncle Sam. That is why I am wearing this hat and have this flag," said Rosado.
Rosado was one of hundreds of kids at the pool complex for the Fourth of July celebration. Children ran around swinging glow stick swords, holding spinning, bright lights, eating ice cream and cotton candy and dancing to pop music being played by the D.J.
When the fireworks began the children and their families took to their blankets to admire the fireworks show.
"I liked it because it made those sounds," said Eva Vaoencic, 6, after the finale. Vaoencic said her favorite firework was the one with "the Christmas colors."
