SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Two Scarsdale High School students were chosen by the League of Women Voters Scarsdale to attend the Students Inside Albany conference: sophomore Matthew Drescher and junior Daniel Wasserman.

The conference was a four-day event in May, during which public policy was discussed, along with the process by which it comes about.

The League of Women Voters New York State Education Foundation Inc. and the Scarsdale League sponsored the students’ trip to the conference, including hotel rooms and meals.

This year, the students had the opportunity to spend time with Amy Paulin, an assemblywoman from Scarsdale’s district.

“It was truly a privilege to meet with her and watch her in action on the assembly floor, Drescher said, adding that he “loved every minute of the conference, meeting all the new people who shared common interests with me, and learning about a common issue we are all passionate about – school, and especially school funding.”

Drescher and Wasserman were able to meet other high school students from throughout the state, while they learned more about the government and lobbying. Those who wish to apply for the chance to go to the 2015 Students Inside Albany Conference may find out how by visiting the website at next fall. In order to be eligible to apply, a student must be a sophomore, junior or senior, who attends or lives within the Scarsdale High School district.
