On Thursday, Westchester chef Alison Awerbuch is once again bringing together 25 of her colleagues from around the county to prepare some of the most mouth-watering recipes in their repertoires. Their goal is to create "An Evening in Good Taste," the largest fundraiser of the year for the Food Bank for Westchester.
The event will be held at 1133 Westchester Ave. in White Plains. Among the participants are Mount Kisco Seafood, Sarafina White Plains, and Zuppa Restaurant, Yonkers. The festivities, which include a silent auction and live music, begin at 6 p.m.
Awerbuch’s support of the Food Bank is long standing and takes many forms, from past service on the board of Directors to overseeing the menu of the Food Bank for Westchester’s Valentine’ s Day Gourmet Diner and Wine Tasting. She is a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Michigan. “I realized food and hospitality were my passions," she said. "I still love the career path I chose.”
Awerbuch is a partner and chef at Abigail Kirsch Catering Relationships, which has five venues throughout New York. Each location provides a different atmosphere for a variety of occasions. She says a great deal has changed in the industry during her time in catering. One of the things Abigail Kirsch specializes in is feeding large groups of people. “If you want great food in an interesting environment, we can take that on," she said.
