SCARSDALE, N.Y. - A pair of southbound exits on the Bronx River Parkway (BPR) will be closed overnight in Scarsdale and Greenburgh Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Southbound exit 12 for Crane Road and the entrance ramp from Fenimore Road to the southbound parkway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to install 12 precast box beams over the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem line. The work is part of the Crane Road Bridge Replacement project on the BPR. The work, and closures, are weather permitting.
As a result of the closures, the following local streets will also be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Crane Road westbound from Chase Road to East parkway will be closed
- East Parkway southbound from Crane Road to Christie Place will be closed
- Southbound parkway will have intermittent stoppages for approximately five to 10 minutes while heavy equipment is moved
Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Numerous variable message signs are being used in both directions to alert drivers of these closures.
The $39.4 million, four-phase project is estimated to be finished by spring 2015. The new bridge will feature wider lanes and shoulders, including a northbound deceleration lane to Crane Road. Sidewalks will be added and the southbound Metro-North platform will be completely reconstructed. A portion of the Scarsdale Merchant Parking Lot has been partitioned as a staging area for equipment.
