Car Burglaries Plague Scarsdale Neighborhood

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A trio of car burglaries hit a Scarsdale neighborhood Friday, and another was reported earlier in the week.

Two Griffen Avenue callers and a Broadmoor Road resident told police April 27 their vehicles had been broken into overnight. One of the callers reported his sunroof was smashed, a window was cracked and a $200 iPod was taken. In another instance, a window was smashed and a Tom Tom GPS unit was taken. In the third instance, a car window was broken and a briefcase and gym bag were taken. Both items were discarded nearby.

On April 24, a Popham Road caller told police that someone had taken items from her vehicle between 4:30 p.m. April 23 and 1 p.m. April 24. Items reported stolen were rolls of quarters worth $40 and a Garmin GPS unit valued at $400.

A week earlier, five car burglaries were reported, most of them in the Crane Road and Church Lane areas.
