Convicted murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility on June 6, allegedly with the assistance of a female employee of the northern New York prison, law enforcement officials said.

The day of the escape, Cuomo allegedly refused to enter a room used as a “command center” unless only state employees were present, according to the New York Post.

Cuomo’s behavior “distracted investigators,” and police sources close to the case claim the governor has insisted he take part in any press conferences once Matt and Sweat are caught, the New York Post reported.
