PELHAM, N.Y. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck just northwest of Washington, D.C. with the epicenter in Virginia.
The earthquake was felt as far away as New York City, Philadelphia and Martha's Vineyard, where President Barack Obama is on vacation. Some cell phone service interruption has been reported in New York City, which has been partially evacuated.
The Scarsdale Police Department told The Daily Scarsdale it has not responded to any calls about the earthquake and no damages have been reported.
The Pentagon has also been evacuated.
