POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Actress and former Pound Ridge resident Susan Sarandon recently traveled across the globe to welcome Syrian refugees arriving in Greece, according to Time magazine.
“Who are these refugees? Where are they from? What led them here? Where will they go? I have come to hear their stories and learn,” Sarandon wrote on the Huffington Post.
In the article, Sarandon recounts crying with a migrant mother who brought her two children with her. “I take her in my arms and I, too, begin to weep… I can’t imagine what state of desperation could make getting on this overcrowded, rickety boat seem like a good idea,” Sarandon said in the Time article.
Today, Sarandon tweeted an image of herself with a young refugee, saying that we all need to understand that "these people" are just like the rest of us, people who want to be safe.
