SCARSDALE, N.Y. A home break-in Thursday in the 100 block of Fox Meadow Road netted a jewelry thief several thousand dollars worth of goods, the homeowner told police.
The burglary took place between 3:40 p.m. and 7:40 p.m., according to the Scarsdale Police report.
The thief apparently entered the home through an unlocked bathroom window, the report said, and rummaged through bedrooms and a home office. Numerous empty jewelry boxes were found on the floor in the master bedroom and pillow cases were removed from two of the bedrooms. Inside the office there was a safe, which was open, and many items and papers were found in disarray on the desk and floor.
The homeowner said a minimum of $15,000 in jewelry was missing and that a full inventory could increase that total, according to the report.
Scarsdale detectives are continuing to investigate.
