WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – Even as long gas lines were spotted throughout Westchester
County on Saturday, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said Gov. Andrew Cuomo has assured him that deliveries to retail stations are returning to normal and generators are being delivered to those stations that have supply but no electric power.
Astorino issued a statement Saturday saying, "Again, I am asking our residents to be patient."
Regarding the continuation of tens of thousands of power outages in the county, Astorino said, "Our biggest priorities are our schools. We want all schools open on Monday. After that, our priority is our voting places, which, in many cases, are in schools."
As of 3:30 p.m. Saturday, about 108,469 Con Edison customers in Westchester were without
power, down from 120,374 Friday afternoon.
In addition, there were about 21,200 NYSEG customers in the dark Saturday, down from 25,499 Friday afternoon.
Con Ed is vowing to have all Westchester customers' power restored by Friday. NYSEG says the bulk of its customers will have power back by midnight Sunday, with the remainder brought back online by Wednesday.

Please be aware that the Shell Station on Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley jacked up their prices from $4.19/$4.29 right before the shortage to $4.79/$4.89 the next day. They should be ashamed taking advantage of this situation. When things get back to normal I would encourage everyone to use the other gas stations in the area and stay away from the Shell Station.
Also, this gas shortage is having a profound effect on people needing to get to work.. I work down county for the Lakeland Central school district and they are still without power.. So for now, I have been without work for a week now.
Good morning to all...
Just to let you know, up here in Duchess county around Wappingers falls.. They are all out of gas. If you go to some of the back roads you won't find gas at all. That's due to, many people as far as Yonkers, Jersey, and lower westchester coming up this way to get gas... This in turn, has overwhelmed the supply and demand... So now we have nothing... And no one is going no where...as for this idea that gas is on it's way, it's not...I believe they are just trying to keep us in a state of HOPE.. What ever gas comes this way, it will happen late this week. By that the second Storm will Hit!!
Gas Station owners in Millwood say it's worse, not better since the politicians said gas is on the way
Astorino wake up and drive around Westchester...I don't see the gas situation getting better and where is Con Ed.....and I totally agree with you All things Being Equal.......
I think Con Ed employees are lost somewhere with the Oil Tankers! Probably two of the highest priced items a consumer has to pay for....gas and electricity...and both are being allowed to get away with this. I know these are trying times and we are the lucky ones, but something has got to give. A week and people are still w/o power, heat and the basic needs of life. I'd like to see what happens if I deduct a week of taxes for lack of services. I'd be in jail!
Have you seen the long lines today in Yorktown? I don't see the problem being solved. The only one that is getting anything out of this is the owner of the Shell and Mobile gas sation in the center of town. He is charging 4.59 cash for his product. This is the man taht doesn't want Costco being built in Yorktown because it will be selling gasoline. Well pardon my French, but screw you. This is how you treat people when they are in need? Where are our officials when they see this happening. Great photo op for one of them. Stand outside one of the sations and tell the people what you are going to do about it. Like that's going to happen.
Our politicians have failed us and Obama did nothing because no matter what NY will vote him in anyway
I waited about 10-15min. in Rye yesterday. I got filled up, $43.00. There was no price gouging. It was, however, cash only but I can understand that. It was all very civilized.
I'm glad to see some people lived in a "civilized" town. Actually, the people on line in Yonkers are and were quite civilized, as were the police controlling the lines. Price gauging is price gauging and I'm guessing the attendants and mangers don't even live in Yonkers. Maybe gauging is not in Rye yet, but if this continues, update me in a few days. BTW what station did you go? Come on, give us all a clue to where your "civilized" station is and the wait is no more than 15 mins! We want to be "civilized" too. BTW "civilized" almost every station out there is cash only.
We drove around all over tonight. The few stations we found (Getty on Central Ave. and Mobile on Tuckahoe) that still had gas had 3 hour lines. Getting gas is worse than ever and impossible to find. Yes, I guess there is gas if you already have enough gas to wait 3 to 4 hours to get 10 gallons. I've been using mass trans, but they schedules have also become unreliable.
On the other hand, who am I to complain when so many are suffering. I just wish the political mumbo jumbo would stop!
Oh yeah, and the gas stations are gauging the customers. I was told I could only get $20 worth of gas. I said I was under the impression Yonkers had imposed a 10 Gallon limit....$20 would only get me about 5 gallons? But if I tipped the guy $10 bucks, I could get a full tank. I paid it because I really, really need to get to work. Yeah, things are getting better! Give me a break. I could afford the extra 10....barely....but what about people who are just making ends meet? What about people who can barely afford the price of gas as it is? But if you tip the guy you get more? I am truly amazed. This is a warning....the hurricane. A warning that we all need to open our eyes. I see. Most public officials still can't see it. That scares me and should scare everyone out there!
Sorry, that's a lot of political BS. I drove all over Yonkers, where I live. They all said the same thing...gas is on it's way. 12:00 oh no, now there telling us 3:00; go back at 3:00 and it's 5:00....wait on line AGAIN to find out there's no delivery. Finally found one on Tuckahoe Road. 2 and 3/4 hours later I got gas! I was told by one gas station owner that "they are being told gas is coming". It never comes and it probably won't. If you need gas, get over it and get out there and get it NOW while it lasts. They really have no idea when it's coming once they run out.
I understand that compared to what the people in Breezy Point, Staten Island, the Jersey Shore, etc. are going through, this is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. But it does tell you how of out touch the politicians are too the citizens....if they are lying to us about gas, imagine what they're telling or feeding people who have been totally wiped out. When will this change!
We gassed up in Danbury with no lines.
