Crews will use the giant floating crane to lift massive sections of the new bridge that can weigh up to 1,100 tons and put them into place, LoHud.com reported.

The floating barge was named "The Left Coast Lifter" because of its previous work on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge project. It made the trip from California through the Panama Canal and has been docked in Jersey City since January, LoHud.com said.
