Wind and rain are expected to begin Sunday night, with the most intense weather coming Monday night and continuing into Tuesday. Four to six inches of rain are expected to hit the village, with winds in excess of 50 miles per hour.

The Scarsdale School District was forced to cancel its special Board of Education meeting, and a presentation with Tony Wagner has been postponed. Village officials also requested that residents remove leaf piles from the edge of properties, as the leaves may cause a potential hazard and clog drains.

Residents have been advised to prepare for flooding, power outages and road closures.

Con Edison should be contacted directly at 1-800-75-CONED if a power outage occurs. This will allow for residences to be registered in a computerized database.

For emergencies -- including fire, downed power lines and people in distress -- 911 should be called. The Scarsdale Police Department can be reached at 914-722-1200 for non-emergencies.

For updates during the storm, check The Scarsdale Daily Voice, radio stations and the village website. Depending on the impact of the storm, Scarsdale will issue advisories through its emergency communications system, which are sent to home telephone numbers.
