ID Thieves Hit Two Scarsdale Residents

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Two instances of identity theft were reported to the Scarsdale Police Department on Friday.

A Ridgecrest West resident told police he received notification from World Financial Network Bank that there were irregular transactions on two of his credit cards totaling $1,500. A third card had also had two fraudulent names added to it, he said.

In the other instance, a Reimer Road resident discovered $9,000 had been removed from his Bank of America checking account over a two-day period. Transfers had been made to accounts set up in his name with his personal information with E*Trade and Ally Bank, according to the police report.

Noise complaint: Police checked out a noise complaint at 1:47 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Meadow Tennis Club. According to the police report, police found a party in progress at the club, and the partiers agreed to turn off the music.

Gas leaks: A gas odor was reported at Popham Road and East Parkway at 10:49 p.m. Saturday. Police and Scarsdale Fire Department responded, and firefighters detected a low reading. Con Edison was called, and the fire department remained on scene to await Con Edison's arrival.

At 12:42 a.m. Sunday, a gas odor was reported by Westchester County Police at Mamaroneck Road and Hutchinson River Parkway. Scarsdale Fire Department was also on the scene, along with a Con Edison supervisor who said the leak was minor, presented no hazard and would be fixed by Monday.
