SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Things seem to be getting worse for some people in Scarsdale, following Hurricane Sandy, as the number of Con Edison customers without power grew Wednesday afternoon.
At 4 p.m. Tuesday, 4,113 of Scarsdale’s 6,025 Con Ed customers were without power, while an estimated 4,130 were feeling the effects at 6 a.m. Wednesday. As of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the number had grown to 4,379.
Downed wires on Madison Road are affecting 624 customers, while nearby Atherstone Road has an outage affecting 183 customers.
On White Road, 856 customers remain without power due to downed wires, and three outages around Drake Park are keeping 193 customers in the dark.
A total of 45 power outages in the Quaker Ridge neighborhood are affecting 635 customers, and Con Edison plans to have that situation resolved by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Throughout Westchester County, 175,639 of the 348,198 the company serves are being affected by outages.
While most of the major impediments have been cleared from Post Road and other major roadways, debris and tree limbs continue to littering the ground, and many side roads are still blocked. There are downed wires all around the village, and many traffic lights are still dark.
