A growing number of police departments are employing drones in an effort to become more efficient and strengthen their effectiveness, according to lohud.com.
"It's amazing what it can do," New Rochelle Detective Sgt. Robert Torr, told lohud.com.
The detective flew a drone outside the police station in New Rochelle recently, said lohud.com.
Drones used, for example, to illustrate an accident scene give a better picture than ground photos, Torr told lohud.com.
Among departments exploring the use of drones are the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Greenburgh and Tarrytown, said lohud.com.
Ramapo, Stony Point, Suffern, Peekskill, Bedford, Hastings and Kent all are looking into getting or sharing drones, according to the report.
