...remember this in November...

whats to be shocked about. I have to consider that about 60 thousand dollars of my pre tax earned income is set aside to pay for my property taxes! and i am in a normal average home of about 3k sq. ft. Its out of control! and i don't work in nyc....

I am shocked- shocked I tell you- to hear this!

so true all the other comments. i see so many people leaving ny because of cost of living. texas, and houston are hot spots because, taxes are low, and so many biz have moved there making a a housing boom there.

New Yorkers generally vote Democrat. This party is creating a socialist environment. Nice to help people, however, who do you think is paying for all this "free" stuff? Where does the government get the money? It gets it from the average tax payers! As long as you keep liberal spenders in office, you can just accept the fact that New York will continue to be one of the most expensive places to live in!

sorry, but I don't buy the "blame the poor" myth. Most federal taxes go to WAR, not free stuff. As far as Westchester taxes....let's start with the bloated layer of County govt...

SOOOOOOOOO TRUE! People, particularly those that vote need to pay attention. With all the free stuff given away, we still have poverty. Do you think our elected officials, those particularly like Nita and Chuck, who have been in office and are career politicians, are the problem? They are. Do you think they care about the average citizen? They say they do, but it is clear that they do not. Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do, and not just what the media covers, which always paints these politicians in a positive light. Check out how they vote and what they vote on.

I still love my country it is the government that I don't trust

Also the fact that we are bleeding taxes and getting very little in return for it. For the sky high taxes I pay, I'd like free healthcare, affordable child care, and affordable higher education. But, in reality, we have the polar opposite. New York, America...is becoming unlivable for the average person.

It was still the most expensive place to live when republicans were in office and it always will be. It's New York. not saying that's right or great, that's just the way it is. but to blame it on Democrats is ludicrous.

spoken like a true partisan...

Really! You obviously are a democrat and have blinders on. Have you not seen
the attempts of Rob Astorino to reign in the Westchester county budget. And yet the democrats, controlled legislature keeps adding back. Not the democrats?
By the way I am a life long independent, and all you have to do is look at California and Detroit to see the handy work of the democrats, case studies that all voters should review.

The Democrats are mainly responsible for the high taxes - on the working people, to pay for the poor people who contribute nothing to society except more babies, crime, and filth. And of course the 1%, most of them Wall Street bankers, pay little or no taxes and live in their ivory towers, high above the rabble they've created below.

Blame the poor, blame the poor....Yes, those disenfranchised people living on section 8 are ruling things from the bottom. Blaming the poor is exactly what the 1 percent want the working class to do. It deflects attention from them and the fact that they are the cause of this current mess.

Yes, I blame the poor, for continuing to remain in their chosen level of so-called poverty. America's poor people are the richest poor people in the world. They are given everything - free housing, free food and utilities, free healthcare, free education (which many of them are throwing away), free chauffeured transportation, etc.
And then I blame the rich - the 1 percent who continue to rake in trillions of untaxed dollars, all at the expense of the ever-eroding middle class. Those top people continue to cause the problems, while publicly preaching their liberal ideologies, but privately oppressing the lower classes.
