PCTV is presenting Bill Flooks, owner of Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, with its first Making a Difference Award at its gala, which starts at 6 p.m. at Rowley Estate at 37 Drake Road in Scarsdale.

Flooks is  Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce president and has done a lot in his role to use PCTV as a vehicle to promote Pleasantville businesses, Station Manager Shane McGaffey said.

"We have formed really a good partnership that has helped both the chamber and PCTV," McGaffey said.

McGaffey said with this partnership, it has allowed PCTV to film and broadcast events like ribbon cuttings which help promote the business and Pleasantville as a destination spot.

"We've been working together to show how much downtown Pleasantville really has to offer," McGaffey said. "You don't have to do your shopping at the mall, you can do it right here."

The gala, besides being a vehicle to raise money for PCTV, will also present PCTV's vision for the future.

McGaffey said he envisions PCTV being more of a public private partnership.

"We're relying less on public funds and doing more private events to pay the bills," McGaffey said.

McGaffey said PCTV plans to redesign its website allowing for blogging and for people to upload their own content.

"People can record things themselves without having to come down to the studio," McGaffey said. "Our studio is now a hub.

These changes will strengthen PCTV's relationship with the Pleasantville community, McGaffey believes.

"PCTV is the purest form of free speech," McGaffey said. "Anyone can come in and it's unfiltered. You get to hear what someone is saying and how they say it."
