Police: Man Gets In Wrong Car, Crashes

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – An Easton man was charged with driving under the influence and taking a vehicle without the owner's permission after an accident involving a parked car in front of a Fairfield home. The motorist, Raymond Longo, 38, of Buck Hill Road, was also charged with two counts of criminal mischief, police said.

Fairfield police gave the following account: Two Tunxis Hill Road residents said they saw a pickup truck crash into their car, damaging its rear bumper and taillight and the truck’s front end.

The residents said Longo tried to back up and leave when they went outside to investigate. They opened the truck’s door to prevent him from leaving and waited for officers to arrive.

Longo failed field sobriety tests at the scene but refused breath tests. He also said he drove a minivan, not a pickup. Longo’s minivan was found parked at Bill’s Crossroads Café down the street from the accident. The pickup truck belonged to another customer, whom did not know Longo.

Longo was released on $500 bond, and is due in court Jan. 17.
