The Village of Scarsdale has scheduled a complete closure of the Popham Road Bridge to vehicle traffic from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 to 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians. Rain dates for the closure are set from Friday, Oct. 14 to Saturday, Oct. 15, at the same times.
The closure will allow the contractor to pour the concrete deck on the north side, which will require time to cure according to a press release issued Tuesday by the village.
A traffic detour has been established and will be marked with detour signs. Drivers familiar with the area are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the Popham Road, Garth Road, Harney Road and Scarsdale Avenue areas during the period the roads will be closed. Efforts to minimize motorist delays have been coordinated by the village with neighboring municipalities and involved agencies. Police will be on site to assist with traffic control.
In the event of a change in closure scheduling, additional advisories will be issued.
