Popham Road Bridge Will Close to Vehicles Sunday

After a three-day rain delay, contractors are ready to pour the concrete for the new Popham Road bridge deck.

The bridge is scheduled to close to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, but pedestrian access will be maintained, according to a notice posted on the Village of Scarsdale website. The concrete will form the deck for the north side of the bridge.

A traffic detour has been established and village officials ask drivers to follow the detour signs to avoid expected traffic delays. Drivers familiar with the area are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the Popham Road, Garth Road, Harney Road and Scarsdale Avenue areas. Police personnel will be on site to assist with traffic control.

Additional advisories will be issued in the event that the closure schedule changes, accroding to the post.
