Scarecrow Festival is Coming to Scarsdale

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – It may be time in some states for straw polls, but it's also the season for straw men – scarecrows, that is.

The White Plains Hospital 13th annual Scarecrow Festival is scheduled for Oct. 16 at Kids’ B.A.S.E., 307 Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale.

The festival is a celebration of fall that encourages families to build, dress and accessorize their own life-sized scarecrows and take them home.

Everything needed to create the scarecrows will be provided on site, including shirts, pants, neckties, hats, accessories and – of course – straw. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own costumes for the scarecrows if they prefer to do so. Scarecrow specialists will be on hand to help families stuff, tie and decorate their scarecrows. Each scarecrow will go home with its own birth certificate.Entertainment, arts and crafts for the kids, a bake sale and raffles are included in the day’s festivities.

The event is sponsored by the Auxiliary of White Plains Hospital.

The price per scarecrow is $40 for a family of up to five, and $15 for each additional scarecrow. You must pre-register for this event. There are three sessions to choose from: 10 to 11:30 a.m., noon to 1:30 p.m. And 2 to 3:30 p.m. Parking is free. All proceeds from the event benefit White Plains Hospital.
