SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Scarsdale will be flushing water mains beginning Monday and residents could see slightly discolored water.
The periodic water main flushing will continue until all pipes in the system have been flushed, the village said. The program is to prevent discoloration of water during the heavy demand periods of the summer.
The procedure could cause slight discoloration for a short time during the day and evening, the village said. The water is safe for consumption, the village said, though it may stain clothes if washed in it.
The cleaning operation will be in the Greenacres Area, Fox Meadow Area, Village Business District Area, Village Hall Area and then proceed into the Hyatt Field Area. Surrounding areas could also experience some discoloration.
