Scarsdale Driver Arrested After Chase, Crash

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – An auto accident that sent two people to the hospital and caused damage to two properties led to an arrest early Wednesday.

Vivian Arkanmachado Bottino, 27, of Tunstall Road, and a passenger were taken to White Plains Hospital by Scarsdale Village Ambulance after she drove her 2002 Mercury Suburban across a Birch Lane lawn, hit a basketball hoop, a rock and a tree at another Birch Lane address, according to the police report. The Suburban overturned and came to rest upside down in front of a house on Birch Lane.

According to the police report, the accident took place shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday as Bottino was fleeing police after she was clocked driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Post Road near Olmstead Road. Bottino, traveling south on Post Road, turned onto Richbell Road, where police pursuit continued. The Suburban continued on Lakin Road and then into the driveway on Birch Lane just before the crash. Bottino and her passenger were both wearing seat belts and were suspended upside down in their seats, according to the report.

Bottino was arrested after treatment of a head contusion and charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, speeding, criminal mischief, failing to keep right on a two-lane road, reckless driving, failure to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle and reckless endangerment, police said. She was arraigned in Scarsdale Village Court and released on her own recognizance.
