Scarsdale Genius Wins Science Gold Medal

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale High School student Spencer Eric Lee recently won the gold medal at the first GENIUS Olympiad, a global high school science and art competition focused on the environment.

He bested 223 student scientists and artists from 34 countries and 32 states with his presentation "Recovering Lost Energy from a Combustion Reaction Inside an Engine Through Heat Exchange” at the Global Environmental Issues and Us (GENIUS) Olympiad held in late June at the State University of New York College at Oswego.

Entries in the scholarly competition focused on environmental quality, ecology and biodiversity, resources and energy, human ecology and removing oil from water.  In addition to the medals, winners and participants received laptops, Kindle e-book readers and iPods.
