Most manicurists make $30 to $40 a day and often must wait months for payment, according to The New York Times.

Sophia Hong, proprietor of Scarsdale’s Madison Nails, was sued in 2010 by an employee for not paying overtime, The New York Times reported.

The case was settled out of court, according to The New York Times.

Hong owns several luxury homes throughout the New York City area and artwork that could be worth as much as $2 million, according to The New York Times.
