Scarsdale Police Charge Carpenter With Stealing More Than $30K In Jewelry

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A White Plains carpenter that has worked in numerous Scarsdale homes over several years was arrested by village police after allegedly stealing more than $30,000 in jewelry.

Following a three-week investigation, Scarsdale Det. Lt. Thomas Altizio said that Robert Satenberg, 69, a self-employed carpenter, was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.

According to police, Satenberg recently performed work inside a Mamaroneck Road home, where he allegedly stole the jewelry. Some of the goods he is accused of stealing was found and recovered at a pawnshop on Central Avenue in Greenburgh, where Satenberg sold it.

Satenberg was arraigned on Thursday, Nov. 14 by Judge John Galloway in Scarsdale Justice Court. He was remanded to Westchester County Jail and is being held on $5,000 bail. He is due back in court on Nov. 20.
