Scarsdale Public Safety Office Move-in Set For Oct. 27-28

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Work on the new Scarsdale Public Safety building at the corner of Post and Fenimore roads is in the final stages and the building is expected to be fully occupied next week.

According to Scarsdale Police Detective Lt. Thomas J. Altizio, “The full move is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 27 or 28. The dispatch center has already been moved back into the building from the trailers” at Tomkins and Fenimore roads.

The building, which dates back to 1924, had not been renovated since 1952. The update, originally bid at $13 million, included adding 10,000 square feet. Construction began in May 2009 and was scheduled to take 18 months.

The project is coming in a year overdue and the cost has jumped to more than $15 million. Scarsdale Village Assistant Administrator Steve Papallardo, in a report sent to The Daily Scarsdale, cited “unforeseen site conditions and unknown existing building structural systems/deficiencies” for the delays and overruns.
