The area’s first baby of 2013 arrived just minutes after the clock struck midnight when Ella Chang was born Tuesday at 12:20 a.m. at Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville.

The healthy baby girl, who weighed in at 6 pounds and 14 ounces, was born to Bronxville residents Elizabeth Spadaccini and Eric Chang.

Hours later, in Sleepy Hollow, Claudia Ceja welcomed her daughter, Emiliana Lopez, at 7:04 a.m. inside Phelps Memorial Hospital. Emiliana weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces, and measured 18 ½  inches long.

As she looked down at Emiliana, her first child, wrapped tightly in a white blanket, with a pink hat on her head, Ceja said it was a surreal moment.

“It’s so overwhelming,” the Port Chester woman said. “But we’re overjoyed. It’s a great way to start the new year.”

Down the hall, Praveen Umashamkar and Deepthi Narasipura were welcoming a baby girl of their own. The Elmsford couple became proud parents at 7:51 a.m., four days sooner than expected.

“We didn’t expect to be here on New Year’s but today she was here,” Narasipura said.

The baby girl, whose parents are still deciding on a name, weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 19 ¾ inches long.

In Yonkers, Jessica Tocasuche gave birth to a baby boy at 10:02 a.m. Justus Enrique Gamero weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and measured 19 ½ inches long, his proud mother said.

Tocasuche said she wasn’t expecting her son to be delivered for at least another week but said his birth was the perfect way to start a new year.

“It was so unexpected and it happened so fast,” she said. “It was a beautiful surprise.”

A new baby girl arrived at Northern Westchester Hospital Center at 2:37 a.m.
