Although as many as two feet of snow was anticipated in the area, Mayor Robert Steves has called off the state of emergency after less than a foot fell overnight.
According to Steves, all roads have been sufficiently plowed and cleared, and are reasonably safe for motorists. Parking restrictions have been lifted, and vehicles parked in the Freightway Parking Garage overnight should be removed.
There will still be no trash collection on Tuesday; it will instead be collected curbside on Wednesday. There will be no newspaper and recycling collection this week.
Tuesday’s scheduled Board of Trustees meeting is still set for a limited-agenda, with the intention of only discussing the collecting bargaining agreement with the Policeman’s Benevolent Association. The rest of the agenda will be heard at the rescheduled meeting on Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will see an additional one or two inches of snow accumulating in Bronxville, with a wind chill value between five and 15 degrees. There is a slight chance of additional snow overnight, with blustering winds.
With wind gusts expected to reach 35 mph, residents have been advised that power lines are subject to damage. And individual power outages can be submitted to Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED.
“As emergency conditions have been significantly remedied, the state of emergency is no longer warranted,” Steves said in a statement. “As such, the village of Scarsdale is no longer in a state of emergency and the prohibition of vehicular travel and parking is herby rescinded.”
