On Wednesday, Oct. 11 the New Rochelle Police Department was made aware of a threat to Salesian High School made on Friday, Oct. 6 from one student to another at the high school, Capt. Robert Gazzola said.

Gazzola said that the student threatened that he was going to “shoot up” the school. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the student did not have access to weapons, and had already been suspended by the school’s administration. As a precaution, Salesian was closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Following a consultation with the New Rochelle District Attorney’s office, police arrested a 16-year-old from New Rochelle and charged him with a felony count of making terroristic threats.

Gazolla said the investigation remains active. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the New Rochelle Police Department’s General Investigations Unit by calling (914) 654-2270.
