Unemployment Benefits End For Some Norwalk Residents Saturday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- About 22,000 Connecticut residents will no longer receive unemployment benefits starting Saturday after Congress went into its year-end recess without extending the program, according to Boston.com.

A total of 1.3 million Americans were on emergency unemployment insurance, which pays about $327 per week. That benefit has now expired. 

Connecticut's unemployment rate is currently 7.6 percent, a bit above the national rate of 7 percent.
