"They're working very hard," said Scarsdale resident Marion Farrell, who was there with her husband, Tom. "I appreciate their efforts."

Cars came streaming through the parking lot starting at 10 a.m., and Con Edison workers filled their trunks with hefty bags of dry ice in the 49 degree weather.

After receiving instructions on how to use dry ice to keep food from spoiling, the line continued, including David Wilkes and his family.

"We don't have power at our house. We have three kids, and my wife's pregnant," said Wilkes. "So it'll help at least keep the food a little bit longer."

Wilkes, his wife, and three children, ages 6, 4 and 2, moved from North Carolina to White Plains in June. Wilkes said he was not expecting to be hit by a hurricane, but was hopeful he would have power back soon.

Con Edison customers are asked to report outages by calling 800-75-CONED (800-752-6633). They will be called by Con Edison with an estimated restoration time when it becomes available, according to a press release.
